Guess Who?

The Health Committee closed their Guess Who competition last Friday. We had many entries and a huge well done to everyone who took part. We had 2 entries with 11 correct answers and to choose the prize winner we put both entries into a hat and a winner was drawn. Primary 2/3 were the winners and are pictured below with their prize.

We raised approximately £25 from this event. This money will be added to the money raised from our raffle and Beat the Goalie, to assist in buying each pupil a water bottle.

Here are the answers. How many did you guess correctly?

China

As part of our IDL theme, China, we had been discussing the population of the country and how they would house so many people in the country. We know there are a lot of high rise buildings in China and the country is very susceptible to earthquakes, therefore we used a variety of materials to build high rise buildings and tested how they would withstand the effects of earthquakes.

Beat the Goalie

The Health Committee held their Beat the Goalie fundraising event on Wednesday. We had a good turnout and everyone was very competitive and determined to score against Mr Macleod! There were a good few goals and definitely some future footballers, Mr Macleod was taken a bit by surprise by the skill shown, not to be beaten, even he had a go at beating the goalie!

From this event we raised approximately £15. This will be added to the money raised from our other fundraising events, to buy the whole school a water bottle each.

The caterpillars have arrived!

This morning a box was left in Claire’s butterfly group. Everyone wondered what it was! Claire opened the box and inside was a tub with small black wriggly creatures. ‘They’re caterpillars’ said Sam.

Claire was a bit concerned because the postman had left them on her front step and it was quite cold. But she needn’t have worried as when the box was opened they were quite wriggly. Nathan counted 5 caterpillars.’There’s one on the top look, it’s hanging down!’

We had a look at the instructions. It said that we must keep the cup warm- wrap it in a blanket overnight if it gets cold. We mustn’t take the lid off because that could let germs in or knock it over as that would really upset the caterpillars. We have to wait for at least 7 days for them to turn into cocoons. What will happen after that? Watch this space………

Caterpillars Day 8

Look at how much our caterpillars have grown over the holiday weekend!

The different colours and patterns on their bodies are now really evident. Several of them have made their way to the top of the container and some silky threads have started to appear. It appears that some are almost ready to begin the next stage of their transformation.

Beat the Goalie

Due to unforeseen circumstances, our Beat the Goalie event was cancelled last Tuesday.

There will be another chance to get one past Mr Macleod on Wednesday 4th May at 12.30pm, in the hall.

This fundraising  is to help the Health Committee buy water bottles for the whole school to promote. Healthy living and the benefits of drinking water.
