S4 Football Results – Report by Reece Palmer, 4A2 With Coltness looking to improve from the previous week’s poor performance, the game started evenly with both sides struggling to create chances in a tightly packed midfield. It had to take something special to break the dead lock but that was on the card as Euan Scott (Coltness & Airdrie United) played an exquisite back-heel through to Coltness new boy Jamie Staniard who rifled home for 1-0. The drastic momentum switch caught St Margaret’s off guard and they found themselves picking the ball out of the net after Euan beat the keeper himself. St Margaret’s then produced a great save from Robbie Gardner as some tidy play from their left winger saw him beat

Zombie Poetry Reading Competition

Mr Pettigrew is the Zombie Poetry Reading Champion of Coltness High School! To celebrate National Poetry Day on the 8th October 2015, several teachers from Coltness High School participated in a Zombie Poetry Reading competition. Mr Pettigrew had stiff competition from Mrs Duncan, Miss McAndrew, Mr McInally and Miss Wilson. Their poetry reading skills were very impressive but the judges voted Mr Pettigrew as the winner. Mr Pettigrew will hold the title of Zombie Poetry Reading Champion of Coltness High School for one year and hopefully will try to defend his title next year on National Poetry Day 2016. Higher Photography

Coltness High School are delighted to announce that they are now offering Higher Photography as part of their Senior Phase Course Choice for the first time this year. As a new incentive, pupils were given the opportunity to visit one of Scotlands most incredible landmarks, The Kelpies in Falkirk. This opportunity enabled pupils to capture inspiring images and develop their skills and knowledge as photographers in unknown territory. Miss Finlayson, Miss Angus and Mr Cifelli of Art&Design were thoroughly impressed with the pupil response and behaviour throughout the trip. The images produced will contribute towards pupil course work and will be exhibited later on in the year.   Written by Ms Finlayson

Daily Record

There is an article doing the rounds on social media just now which originates from the Daily Record about the number of exclusions in schools. Coltness is mentioned in this article, it however dates back to 2009, and the data included in it is from 2007/08. Why this has appeared on social media 6 years later I have no idea.
