Scotsoft 2021 – October 7th 2021

The Scotsoft 2021 conference is on the 7th October and they have several sessions throughout the day aimed at parents, teachers and young people to try and inform them of the career possibilities for the next generation in the tech industry, and the help/support and skills required for these roles.

ScotSoft is the leading tech conference in Scotland and has been running for more than 20 years. It’s an annual festival of ideas and innovation that showcases the best of the Scottish technology sector and brings you sought after speakers from far flung locations.

This year there is an Education stream, aimed at informing parents, educators and young people of the career possibilities available in the tech industry. These sessions look to promote this sector to the future generation of talent and offer more information on what roles they might be suited to and the skills required.

Sessions in the Education stream include:

  • Code your own Data Selfie – an interactive data science activity to learn about data visualisation and how data can be used to create art.
  • A Day in the Life in Tech – four videos will show a day in the life of tech employees in some of Scotland’s key tech companies, and will highlight the different pathways that can be taken to get into these roles.
  • Meet the Expert: Space Technology – an opportunity to find out more about the exciting careers in Space and what it’s like to work in this field.

Any parents or educators that would be interested in these sessions or streaming these for children and young people, please sign up to join on Thursday 7th October.

You will also have access to the full agenda of our ScotSoft conference, if you are interested in hearing from our range of world-renowned industry speakers.

Once registered, you will have access to the recorded content following the conference, in case you cannot make certain sessions on the day or would like to view them again.

Cumbernauld Academy Award Winners 2020/21

Unfortunately due to the ongoing current Covid -19 restrictions in school we didn’t have the opportunity this term to host and celebrate the successes of our pupils along with parents/guardians at our traditional evening awards ceremony.

However as we felt it was very important to celebrate our pupil’s achievements we held a brief event with last sessions S4, S5 , S6 pupils during the school day on Thursday. At this time the Head Teacher presented our award winners with their certificates recognising academic excellence in their subjects.

Hopefully by now the young people have shared with you the news of their award. However to further highlight their achievements we have put together a short clip to reinforce the positive message from their success.

Cumbernauld Academy – Pupil Locker Access Times

Due to current Covid restrictions and the ongoing monitoring of pupil traffic within the school it is important that pupils follow the times given in the table below when accessing their lockers. As with entry and exit from class the times are staggered by five minutes to allow pupils to deposit/collect from their locker before exiting the corridors and stairwells prior to the next bell sounding for the following year groups.

In summary pupils will have an additional 5 minutes when leaving class to access their lockers. They should not return to their locker until the next 5-minute window is available.

This will help to ensure that health and safety in the corridors is maintained and that year group bubble groups remain intact.
