Joint Careers Fayre 7th November 2024

Our joint Careers Fayre with Greenfaulds High is once again taking place on 7th November from 6-8pm at Cumbernauld New Town Hall.  With over 40 different organisations in attendance it will be a great opportunity to support and assist pupils with their future career plans.

Open to all parents, carers and young people.

We look forward to seeing you all on the evening.

BARCLAYS ONLINE WORK EXPERIENCE

Are you interested in a career in Barclays and would like to learn  the knowledge and skills needed to develop career aspirations with thin the company, starting on Monday, 1 July.

Pupils will gain insight into what it is like working at a bank, have the chance to hear from Barclays employees, and build core transferable skills that they can use in any career or industry. The programme takes place after school and includes five live webinars, activities to test and deepen their learning, and the opportunity to complete a project.

The deadline to register is 28 June, but students will need their own technology to take park. Please click on the link below to apply.

FES FM – Junior Prefabrication Engineer Job Role

Junior Prefabrication Engineer

Work – In house training from senior/experienced engineers 4 days per week.

  • Initial 6 months in a workshop enviroment to gain a basic understanding of FES prefabricated services and to interact with workshop operatives.
  • After completing 6 months in the workshop, move into the office full time where you will learn and develop your 3D modelling skills using computer software such as Autodesk Revit & Navisworks.
  • Using the 3D software, you will coordinate steelwork bracketry, mechanical, electrical and plumbing services throughout buildings before producing manufacturing standard drawings to issue to the workshop to allow this to be fabricated and delivered to the building site.
  • Organising appropriate material required to complete a job/task so this can be completed on time.
  • Liasing with FES site project teams in regard to site teams needs, deliveries etc.
  • Develop an understanding of BIM drawing&modelling standards.
  • Progression to prefabrication engineer and/or BIM coordination engineer.
  • Qualifications required.
  • Minimum of Nat 5 English grade B
  • Minimum of Nat 5 Physics grade B.
  • Minimum of Nat 5 Graphic Communication grade B.
  • Minimum of higher Maths grade C.
  • Plus, another higher (any subject) at minimum grade C.

College – 1 day per week for 4 years to complete NC and HNC Building Services Engineering.

  • Attend Glasgow Kelvin College – Springburn Campus on 1 day per week day release.
  • Learn design principles for mechanical services withing building services.
  • Learn how to size mechanical plant and associated pipework/ductwork.
  • Understanding of how mechanical building services operate and why they are required.
  • Understanding health & safety involved within sites and workshops.
  • Graded project at end of year 2 and 4 which brings together everything you have learned.
