Halloween Events

Our Community Committee is aiming to raise money for musical instruments through some Halloween events on the 2nd November.

All pupils are encouraged to wear a Halloween themed outfit over their uniform and make a small donation. The options for pupils are the following:

-A Green, Orange, or red t-shirt.

-Some Halloween themed t-shirts or jumper.

-Halloween headbands.

-Halloween makeup.

Masks are not permitted to be worn

Pupils are not permitted to wear full costumes. This is not a non-uniform day.  Any Halloween clothing is to be worn in addition to school uniform.

During interval there will also be a Halloween bake-sale. This will include homemade treats from staff and pupils. The bake-sale is open for everyone to enjoy with all money collected going towards new musical instruments.

Thursday 29th September GOLD Day

On Thursday we are celebrating our amazing achievement where we received the Gold Charter Award from LGBT Youth Scotland for being the most inclusive school we can be for LGBTQ+ young people in our school community. In honour of our fabulous award we are hosting a GOLD Day where you can dress down in non-uniform clothes, preferably as colourful as possible. At lunch time we will have a special ceremony from Mr Cairns, and a VIP Disco Period 6 & 7 with lots of goodies for sale. Tickets for the VIP Disco are £2 and selling fast, so last chance to buy is at break time on Thursday in Miss Cree’s room. See you there for a boogie!

Parents Portal

As part of our continued drive to improve communication with home, and in conjunction with North Lanarkshire Council’s Digital NL plans, we will be expanding our use of the Parent Portal for session 2022/2023 and beyond. Many of you have already signed up to this service and those with children who recently attended primary school will most likely have experience of using it. For those that have not signed up or do not currently use the portal we would urge you to do so. This will allow you to, for example, communicate absence, receive digital permission slips for excursions, and update your contact details via an online data check sheet. How to register, the range of options available within the portal and troubleshooting can be found using the tutorials on the following website:

Once you have registered you can access your account by clicking on the Parents Portal icon on our website or by clicking the following link

parentsportal | parentsportal.scot

We are determined to make communication as easy as possible and the Parents Portal will allow us to do that digitally. We appreciate there might be potential barriers for you, but as digital communication increasingly becomes part of all our daily lives it is hoped the Parents Portal will make our communication with you faster and more suited to your needs.

Our ask is that you register for the Parents Portal, you do not need to tell us you have registered we will be able to monitor this in school. It is hoped that by early October our communication will be through the Parents Portal – feedback received from current users is that the registration process is straightforward and that the help guides cover most eventualities. If after using the guides, you are still having issues or would like to discuss the Parent Portal please contact us.

Thank you
