As part of Sport Scotland’s ‘Active Girls’ project, over twenty S2-S6 girls participated in a one day workshop run by Y-Dance. The project aims to inspire and motivate girls to become more physically active through dance. It was clear to see the endless talent and strong team-work skills displayed from all girls when they choreographed sections to both hip hop and contemporary dances. All girls worked extremely hard throughout the day and their enjoyment was evident through their smiling faces in their final showcase performance. Their overall work was outstanding and it was very obvious that they had a brilliant time.

SPRING FAYRE
Our Parent Group held a Spring Fayre on Saturday the 12th of March. There was various stalls, bouncy castle and tea room. We also had a very successful car wash in operation. We are delighted to announce the total raised was £1500 and are very grateful for everyone who gave their time, donated items, in particular local business who gave us many items for the raffle, and helped or attended on the day. All the money goes to supporting our pupils. Hopefully, now they have recovered, our Parent Group will consider making this an annual event.

Theatre Trip
36 pupils recently visited the Playhouse in Edinburgh to watch a performance of the International smash hit musical comedy… Hairspray
Hairspray takes place during the swinging sixties in Baltimore, Maryland. Tracy Turnblad is a big girl with big hair and an even bigger dream: to dance her way onto national TV, and into the heart of teen idol Link Larkin. Tracy’s audition makes her a local star and soon she is using her new-found fame to fight for integration. But can she win equality and Link’s heart without denting her ‘do?
All the pupils had a fabulous evening out watching this professional musical production, many of whom are preparing for their roles in this years school show – Sunshine on Leith.
Tickets for our school production will soon be on sale so keep your eyes posted on the website for more details.
