Police Scotland came into Braidhurst to reinforce a key message. They are currently running a campaign across across North Lanarkshire to clamp down on underage drinking and adults who are prepared to buy alcohol for children.
VARIETY FOR MALAWI
Congratulations to all our staff and pupils who made our ‘Variety for Malawi’ show such a success this year. The show was in aid of our newly established Malawi group and all proceeds were donated to the project. Over 40 pupils worked extremely hard over the last few months preparing and perfecting their performances and certainly wowed the audience and judges on the night. We were also delighted to have representatives from the local primaries. All pupils and staff were treated to a post-show lunch the following day to celebrate their efforts and overall success of the night.
The Malawi group have raised over £400 since March this year which has been a tremendous effort and great start to the project.

Vulnerable Road User Campaign
Vulnerable Road User Campaign
Between Monday 19th and Sunday 25th June, in conjunction with our Roads Policing colleagues, Lanarkshire Division will be engaging with the public to educate, enforce and positively influence road user behaviour.
There will be various strands to the campaign which will include:
• educating children and young people walking and cycling on roads
• motorcycle safety
• speeding
• inconsiderate driving behaviours
Our aim is to reduce road incidents. As such, we wish to engage with as many people as possible. Working with our community planning partners, we would like to cascade the message and encourage children, young people and adults alike to take responsibility for their own safety and to be mindful of the hazards walking and cycling on the roads present.

With your help, we can reduce the number of children, young people and families affected by road collisions. A Scotland where no one is seriously hurt or killed on the roads is our ambition.

Over the week, our local problem solving team officers will be liaising with local schools and delivering appropriate advice to staff, pupils and parents alike.

Congratulations to the following pupils on their achievements. This year’s prizegiving ceremony will take place on Tue 20th June at 7pm in the Assembly Hall. Pupils should arrive at school for 6:15pm.

PROM
On Wednesday 7th June the annual Braidhurst prom took place at Dalziel Park Hotel. Pupils met at the school, dressed in their finery, to be transported by bus to the venue. Once inside guests were treated to a delicious 3 course meal, followed by an awards ceremony presented by Mr Hamilton and Dr Gardner and then entertainment from a local DJ. Throughout the evening everyone had the opportunity to take lots of photographs to mark the special occasion. As usual the prom was a great success with many staff also in attendance to say their goodbyes to those pupils who are moving on. All pupils had a great evening and made memories that will last a lifetime.
BEN NEVIS CLIMB
On Saturday 3rd June pupils and staff from the school climbed Scotland’s highest mountain Ben Nevis to raise funds for St Andrew’s Hospice. The weather was kind and everyone made it safely to the top and back down again. A huge congratulations to everyone that conquered the ‘Munro’ and raised money for such a worthy cause.

Parents who applied last year should have either been issued with a letter advising them of their entitlement to an automatic award or will be issued with an application form for completion.
