Damage to football pitch
Message from Mrs Rooney, Head Teacher:
“We are outraged by the damage to our pitch; it is an excellent resource which is well used by both our pupils and the wider community. The damage was significant with several burns on the pitch including a large area at the centre circle; and a goal net was also destroyed. It is so disappointing to see it being damaged through such mindless vandalism. The extent of which means that we have had to cancel football games planned for this week. I would urge anyone with information to contact the police as a matter of urgency.”
P7 SCIENCE TRANSITION EVENT
The science department hosted their annual transition event for the school’s associated primary seven classes on Friday 22nd November. Upon arrival at Braidhurst, primary pupils and staff were escorted into the assembly hall where they participated in a series of fun and informative science experiments and were ably supported throughout by our senior pupils.

The school’s North Lanarkshire Open and S1 Netball teams both achieved great victories on Thursday 21st November in their matches against Dalziel High School. During the matches both teams gave brilliant performance and displayed great etiquette throughout. Players of the Matches were: Ariana Necula, Milly Holmes, Eve Nicholson and Lauryn Buddy.
BOOK WEEK SCOTLAND
The school library recently celebrated Book Week Scotland 2019 by inviting pupils and staff to a reading lunch in the library on Wednesday 20th November. The lunch was an opportunity for staff and pupils to share their love of personal reading whilst taking some well-deserved rest and relaxation in the middle of a hectic school day. Staff were also invited to recommend a book of their choice to pupils in an attempt to communicate the message that everybody reads, not just the librarian. Staff members recommended a wide variety of fiction and non-fiction titles and were given a poster outlining their choice which they were asked to display in their classroom or office for pupils to see.
