Classbase 7

Term 1

We had a busy first term in CB7. Everyone settled in really well to the new class and quickly got to know our class routines. We all love being outdoors and have done lots of learning and playing in the outdoor classroom.

In literacy we read Dear Zoo by Rod Campbell and enjoyed taking part in lots of different activities related to book. We especially enjoyed creating animal artworks and taking part in sensory play.

In numeracy we focused on shape and were all great at identifying and discovering shapes all around us.

Our topic was ‘Houses and Communities’ and we loved looking at where we live on maps. We also learnt about our five senses and used these to explore our local environment.

It has been a pleasure getting to know the children this term.

CB7 Term 2 Curriculum Overview

October and November

Term 2 has flown by so far! We have continued to enjoy art and sensory play with activities themed around autumn, Halloween, and Bonfire Night. We have also had lots of fun practicing our balance during gym sessions.

In literacy we have focused on rhyme and the children have enjoyed discovering rhyming words in our favourite books. We have especially enjoyed the Oi Frog series.

In numeracy we have investigated different types of measure including length, weight, height, and capacity through activities like baking and water play.

We are looking forward to an exciting few weeks as we prepare for Christmas.

December

December was a busy month with lots of fun Christmas crafts and rehearsals for our Christmas performance. The children loved learning our Christmas songs and were superstars when it came to performing it!

The children also continued to work hard on their literacy, numeracy, and health and well-being targets despite all the excitement.

January

We got the year off to a great start in CB7 with lots of hard work on our new topic ‘Energy and Electricity’. We also enjoyed activities related to Burns Night and Chinese New Year. One of our favourite things this month was the sessions with the dance teacher. CB7 love to boogie!

February

We introduced a weekly walk to the woods where the children have been exploring nature and looking out for signs of Spring. This has become one of our favourite parts of the week! Another activity that everyone has enjoyed is our session with Drake Music.
