Primary 1

Curriculum outline – P1G Term 1 Miss Girvan

September 2023

The children have all settled well into their first term in Primary 1. It has been lovely to watch their confidence grow and to see new friendships developing.

As part of our Health and Wellbeing we have been focusing on class routines and becoming familiar with the environment. We have developed a class charter and have been focusing on positive play in the classroom and open area. The children enjoy spending time in the creative area, writing area, construction area, role play area and reading area.

In Literacy,  we have been working on developing our fine motor skills and pencil control to be able to write our names. We have also started to look at some fiction and non fiction books and can identify the title, author and words on a page.  In addition to this, we have learned the ‘s’ sound and can recognise the letter shape and find objects beginning with s.

In numeracy, we have taken part in games and activities to help consolidate our number knowledge and number recognition. We have shown great team work skills when working together to create a chain of cubes the length of the classroom and to create a variety of patterns.

Thank you!

A huge well done to our amazing finalists: James, Cade and Perri!
