Primary 2

Curriculum Outline – P2 Term 1 Mr Gillen

September Update

Throughout the month of September, Primary 2 have enjoyed a range of learning experiences as part of a successful start to the academic year. We have explored many play-based learning opportunities both in our classroom and in our shared Open Area, as we have been able to construct and create, make and design and dramatize and role-play, whilst developing a multitude of other valuable skills.

In Literacy, Primary 2 have focused upon key reading strategies which are supporting us in being able to access and enjoy different texts. We have worked in small group settings to increase our confidence with more challenging texts.

In Numeracy and Mathematics, we have explored addition strategies and have used concrete materials to support our understanding of number processes. Also, Primary 2 have enjoyed exploring the properties of 2D and simple 3D shapes in different active learning contexts.

We have loved reading Katie Morag during our Scotland topic. We have found learning about island life very interesting. During play, some children have even been making bags similar to the one worn by Katie Morag.
