Science

Through learning in the sciences, our pupils will develop their interest and understanding of our living, material and physical world. The Broad General Education programme for S1-S3 pupils, involves participation in a wide range of investigations, allowing them to develop as creative, inventive and independent thinkers.  Through interdisciplinary learning , their scientific studies will establish transferable life skills and an  understanding of the sciences which is  relevant to their individual lives.

Pupils learn in an environment where they are confident that their ideas and contributions are respected and their voices are heard. They will participate in lessons which are challenging, while providing support for their individual needs. Learning takes place in an atmosphere of warmth and respect where pupils receive praise and encouragement, making them confident individuals.

Science provides opportunities for personal achievement in terms of National qualifications, as well as participation in Crest Awards, which are nationwide science programmes recognising success in research and scientific skills.  Pupilsgain access to appropriate learning activities which meet the needs of the individual, thereby recognising their talents and encouraging learning in areas which they are gifted in.
