Outdoor Learning

Outdoor Learning

The school has seen an increased focus on learning outside particularly for the Primary Department. Mrs Bennett supports classes with specific lessons to develop both pupils’ and staffs’ skill sets in learning outdoors. Mrs Bennett also encourages and supports all staff to use the outdoors learning packs that were developed by the team working in the “Outdoor Learning” school improvement plan group.

The recovery term following Lockdown in 2020 concentrated on getting pupils and staff used to being outside and using natural materials for Numeracy and Literacy lessons – and sometimes the children don’t even realise they are learning whilst having so much outdoors fun!

The grounds are improving all the time and the young people are helping to take care of them and have many suggestions as to what could be added to develop them further.
