We hope you have all had a lovely summer and are ready for the start of school!
The Scottish government have now issued guidance around restrictions that have to remain in place for the start of this session.
The local authority will update their guidance before the start of term. Mrs Picken will update all parents on the plan for the whole school’s return when the local authority guidance is issued.
We are delighted to confirm that we are still able to hold our Primary 1 Induction as planned on Friday 13th August as the children are now forming new class bubbles. This will allow the children to spend time in their classroom with their class teacher and their P1 classmates.
Unfortunately, we are still unable to have groups of parents in the school building. We understand that this will be disappointing but hope that you appreciate we must adhere to the guidance set out by the Scottish government. The guidance will be reviewed after 6 weeks, when we will hopefully be able to have groups of parents back into the school building again.
We will continue to provide you with parent information via email and the school website including school newsletters and curriculum information and you will receive relevant paperwork in your child’s school bag. We will hold in-person parent workshops as soon as this is allowed but will provide a ‘digital experience’ in place of these if school restrictions continue into the new session.
Thank you for your patience and understanding with the adjustments we must make at this time.
Please see below for further information about the P1 induction.

The adult dropping the child off will be asked to leave an emergency contact telephone number that the adult can be contacted on. Children will then be taken into the school to spend time in their classroom and enjoy a story-time and activities whilst getting to know the teacher and their classmates.
Children do not need to bring anything to this session and should wear casual play clothes including a jacket.
Children should be collected at the Robertson Street gate. Staff will bring your child out to the gate to meet you.

Monday 3rd May update
Due to updated COVID risk assessment guidance from the local authority we unfortunately are having to cancel the P1 Transitions Tour of Ardgowan that was due to be held on Saturday 15th May. This is to limit the risk of children from different existing nursery/ELC bubbles coming together.
Hopefully restrictions will be relaxed after the summer holidays, and we can offer tours of the school to all our new parents then. We will still provide you with links to an interactive map and virtual tour of Ardgowan as part of our online P1 Transitions Programme.
