McLean Museum

November 2023

P7 visited the McLean Museum to hear about Greenock during World War Two. Vincent told us about our town, showed us amazing photos and let us look at a variety of artefacts from that time.

May 2023

PC Fraser McDonald visited our Primary 6s to educate them on the dangers of social media and how to keep themselves and others safe online.

March 2022

As part of our World of Work month, McGill’s Buses spent a whole day with us.

Our P1-4 classes were so excited to spend time on a brand new zero emissions bus, learning about the benefits of a greener future through greener travel solutions. Some classes even got a wee tour around the town!

Our P5-7 pupils were delighted to welcome Neil to chat about facts and figures relating to running the bus service, the range of job opportunities available at McGill’s and the skills and attributes associated with each job. Huge thanks to Neil and his team.

March 2022

We have thoroughly enjoyed having so many family and friends from our community visit the school during our World of Work month. Our Twitter feed has been jam packed with news of all the class visits.

Thank you to everyone who supported this event.

Session 2019-2020

Glenfield Care Home
We are proud to have established close links with Glenfield Care Home. Our Primary 5s visit on a regular basis and have been developing relationships with both residents and staff. This year P5 and the residents have embarked on project looking at the history of Shipbuilding on the Clyde. Previous years have developed art work on display at Glenfield, introduced pupils/residents to old and new games and engaged in sing-a-longs.

P5 had fun designing a range of suitable activities for our friends at Glenfield care home. We have enjoyed sharing these with them over the past couple of weeks.

Country Dancing
We are delighted to welcome Mrs Cunningham each year to offer extra-curricular dance experiences to P4-7 pupils. Mrs Cunningham works tirelessly with the boys and girls preparing them to perform at Inverclyde Music Festival and other events. In addition to competing at festivals, last year the dancers took their dancing shoes on tour!

Heartstart Inverclyde
Our P7 pupils and staff recently received invaluable Heartstart training and were shown how to use our new life-saving defibrillator.

Texas Instruments
All P6s had an amazing experience participating in a day of STEM activities at Texas Instruments on 13th December. They also got the opportunity to see the silicon wafers which are manufactured at the factory. Thanks so much to Texas Instruments for affording us this excellent opportunity.
