This year, all P6s who wished to be considered for the position of Junior Road Safety Officers completed application forms. Mrs Stewart and Mr McGowan were overwhelmed with the standard of applications and the number of pupils who really wanted to take on this important role. It was a tough decision for Mrs Stewart and Mr McGowan to make and after a discussion with all the candidates our two JRSOs were appointed 🙂

New Ideas
Our new JRSOs are coming up with some great ideas for promoting Road Safety and Awareness.  We are starting off with a Ziggy colouring competition for the P1s and for the P2s to P7 we would like them to design a mascot for Ardgowan Primary Junior Road Safety Officers.  There will be a prize for the best Ziggy picture and a prize for the best design from P2 to P4 and from P5 to P7.

Hands Up Scotland Survey, September 2019
Our JRSOs have been busy already conducting this year’s ‘Hands Up Scotland Survey’, gathering information on how all pupils from P1-P7 travel to school.

The JRSOs counted the number of pupils in each class and then asked the key question ‘How do you normally travel to school?’ They then collated the data and sent it to Sustrans.

Sustrans is the charity making it easier for people to walk and cycle: We connect people and places, create liveable neighbourhoods, transform the school run and deliver a happier, healthier commute.
