P5a

Another busy week in p5a, we have finished off our Co-ordinates block in maths and moved onto to decimal numbers, which has been tricky but the children have shown great perseverance and determination !  In literacy we have been writing non chronological reports about some of the natural disasters that we have been learning about. We have also been trying to make mini versions of them in science, It was messy but good fun! In our new block of creative enquiry we have also been exploring ‘communication’ .

This Week in P7a

This week we completed our abstract self portraits and reflected on how the colours represent our own personalities.

We’ve explored BSL (British Sign Language) in the creative enquiry room.

We were all successful in our transformation assessment and developed settings for our upcoming short stories.

This week in p7b

We have been working hard on our Political Party manifestos as part of our IDL topic. A huge congratulations to the winners of our p7 election “The Sports Party”.

We have had lots of assessments this week as we come towards the end of term but these have gone very well and everyone is very confident.

Our March Maths Challenge has been the best yet!

We have had fun getting creative using our coordinates skills to make some amazing art work.

P4b

We’ve been learning about Fractions. I know the Numerator and Denominator make up the fraction. Finn

I can use the Bar Model strategy to show a fraction. Even hard work like for P6! Sara

I enjoyed developing my passing skills in Football this week. Lots of people worked very hard. Ruaridh R

I enjoyed creating a poster with the facts about Easter. We got to decorate it like a giant Easter egg. Jessica

I liked learning how Easter eggs popular to represent parts of the Easter story. Bella

I really liked working out Equivalent Fractions by using strategies and remembering whatever you do to the numerator you also do to the denominator. Samuel

I enjoyed learning about Fractions. Maisie

I liked Art and dancing. Maria

Only one person in class would choose to have a real egg instead of a chocolate egg – and it isn’t Mrs Wightman!!

This week in p6a!

Literacy – For the past few weeks, p6a have been working really hard to improve their spelling. Daily input in class has been working well to help boost weekly spelling results and children have been engaging in a wide range of written and active tasks each week.

Maths – In maths, we have been working on money, looking at bank statements. We had fun looking at different scenarios and creating bank statements for people, thinking about their situations and what their income and outgoings would be. It was very eye-opening to see how much things cost and how little money can be left at the end of the month to do fun things!

This week P5b managed to continue some of their symmetry tasks outside before the weather changed for the worse! Revision of the 4 operations is ongoing. In literacy P5b were learning to write a newspaper report about a natural disaster. I have been impressed with their progress.

Everyone enjoys Thursday afternoon as we have STEM in the creativity room . Lots of learning and fun.    Mrs. Jodah

P3a Update

Primary 3 have had a very busy week rehearsing and completing work for our Easter showcase, which was today. They delivered their lines fantastically, sang loudly and danced with enthusiasm. I am extremely proud of every single one of them as they all had to speak and it can be very scary when you have an audience.  Our learning this week in maths was on interpreting pictographs. We also combined our maths and our art skills to help us learn about symmetry.  You may have spotted our fabulous symmetry butterflies on the wall at the showcase.

Space Art

This week p6a created some fantastic space art using chalk pastels. We worked on our blending skills and shading, using white chalk to create a 3D effect.
We looked at scale to ensure our images were not too big and not too small.
The class were very impressed with the end results (as was Mrs Gray!)

This Week in P7a

This week we’ve been focusing on collating data and displaying it using a range of graphs.

We’ve made a real effort to develop our communication skills through team games, by giving encouragement and constructive criticism.

We created detailed character profiles to be used in our upcoming short stories.
