Primary 7B with Mrs Nickson and Mr Donnelly
Summary of Learning
Term 2 is a busy one for P7B! Our writing focus will be discursive writing. This genre of writing allows pupils to express themselves and their ideas. It also allows for pupils to participate in class debates and discussions too! In reading, we will focus on ‘Divided City’. Set in modern times, the book tells the story of three boys; two Glaswegians and an asylum seeker. The two Glaswegians are united by a shared passion for playing football but divided by their family backgrounds and religious upbringing. Through the novel, we will also develop our skimming, scanning and note taking skills which will be important skills for high school!
In maths and numeracy, we will focus on the four operations (adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing). We will also investigate money – participating in some financial education lessons and using our numeracy skills to solve calculations involving money.
Our topic this term is the natural world, as selected by our pupils. We will explore different climates and continents. In RME, we will be learning about the religions of modern Scotland and the conflict that may arise, which ties in nicely with our class novel, ‘Divided City’. We are fortunate to have input from Govan high music department, delivering weekly lessons as well as a music specialist working for ‘Celtic Connections’, who will be teaching us some traditional Scots songs!
