Primary 6A with Miss Cruickshank
Summary of Learning
This term in P6A we are reading Holes by Louis Schar. We will be focusing on developing our comprehension skills and fluency when reading aloud. We are also exploring non-chronological reports and will be writing our own texts all about Japan, the country we have chosen to learn about for this term’s topic!
In Numeracy this term we are focusing on Addition, Subtraction and Money. We will explore different strategies we can use to help us add and subtract and challenging ourselves with word problems. We will also be looking at different ways we can spend money and how to set and stick to a budget. Weekly Sumdog challenges will be set for homework to support our learning in class.
We will also be learning about lots of different religious festivals such as Diwali, Day of the Dead, Hanukkah and of course Christmas! In addition, we will be exploring how to maintain a healthy diet and finding out how much of each food group we should be eating in a day.
PE Days
Our P.E Days are Wednesday and Thursday in the gym hall. We also have the opportunity to participate in active play outdoors with our P2/1 buddies on a Friday.
