The Big Balornock Ballot

This week Balornock Primary took part in a ballot to choose our school mascot as part of our Rights Respecting Schools Project. There were lots of fantastic entries and 13 amazing finalists to choose from.  Every class had a chance to vote. It was a very exciting day for everyone.

A Busy Week in Primary 1a

This week the boys and girls have been very busy learning lots of new things! In our Maths work, we have been learning all about symmetry and made some fantastic symmetrical butterfly pictures. In the lead up to next week’s Scottish celebration for Burn’s Day, we discussed the different things that we celebrate in our own lives.

Syllable Counting with Primary 1b

Primary 1b had great fun counting the syllables or beats in words as part of their work with Phonological Awareness.  We counted the number of syllables in words, using claves and then sorted them into the correct number columns.  We even managed to squeeze in a syllable jumping game too!

Scotland Topic

This month our topic is Scotland. We are learning the song ‘Three Craws’ and the Scottish Ceildh dance called the ‘Military Two Step’. We also worked with a partner to solve the Saltire puzzle and wrote a sentence about Scotland during our writing lesson. We can’t wait to learn even more about our amazing country!

New Year Resolutions for 2017

Happy New Year from the boys and girls in Primary 1a. We are so glad to be back at school to start the new year and have all made our own resolutions. We are going to work so hard to achieve these in 2017 that we will knock your socks off!!!

We have all had a very busy term and are looking forward to a much earned rest. The staff and pupils at Balornock Primary would like to wish you all a Merry Christmas and a fantastic New Year. Stay over the holiday period and we look forward to the start of Term 3 on Thursday the 5th of January 2017.

House Winners!

Well done to Forth our winning house this term! The children and families enjoyed an afternoon of entertainment from Mark the Magician. The children were a credit to themselves and the school and showed why they were the winning house. There were also some well deserved refreshments on offer!
