At our school we are committed to continuous improvement. This happens at a whole school level though the school improvement planning process but also at an individual level as each staff member assesses their own skills and knowledge and plans their own professional learning. This is done through evaluation against relevant professional standards and toolkits and within the context of the staff member’s role, the school improvement plan and local and national priorities within education.
In all cases, improvement planning is based on improving outcomes for learners and upon evidencing impact.
All our teachers are registered with the General Teaching Council for Scotland. All our Pupil Support Assistants and Early Years Officers are registered with the Scottish Social Services Council.
The Professional Learning requirements for the two organisations and staff groups differ slightly but the same principles apply for all staff at our school:
Professional Review of Development (PRD)
From August 2025 onwards, PSA’s PRD meetings are held in term 1 or 2. EYO’s PRD meetings are held in term 3 and teacher’s are held in term 4. If any staff member wishes to discuss their professional learning at a different time of year, they can ask the headteacher for an additional meeting or early review.
