First Aid Procedures

At Balmerino Primary School and Nursery Class, we take our duty of care for our pupils very seriously.

If your child is hurt or ill at school we will administer the necessary first aid and care and we will contact you to let you know.

If the injury or illness needs action by you or medical attention, we will call all the numbers we have on file for your child until we can arrange for you or a designated emergency contact to come and collect them. In the unlikely event of a major incident, we would seek medical advice as well as calling you. We do ask that a parent or emergency contact is available at all times during the school day so that we can contact you in the event of an incident and ensure your wishes are followed. Please keep your contact details up to date for this reason

If the injury is minor and your child can continue at school we will still let you know that the injury has happened. Nursery parents (or the adult collecting) will be told at pick up time. Primary parents will receive a text to the first named contact and the child will be given a wristband to wear so that whoever picks them up knows they have had first aid at school.
