CPD opportunity:Secondary Drama Teachers!

Cost – The course is FREE to participants but there will be a small charge of £10.00 to cover tea/coffee and lunches
The Byre Theatre is offering a day long Continuing Professional Development course entitled “Devising Contemporary Theatre – a Masterclass”. This CPD takes a fresh approach to what, how and where young people learn and aims to support the nurturing of young people as successful learners, confident individuals, responsible citizens and effective contributors.
As a member of Fife’s new Creative Learning Network and as a steering group member of Fife’s Cultural Consortium (supporting the delivery of Fife’s Cultural Strategy), we are delighted to be able to offer a one-off in-service opportunity at Auchterderran Centre, Cardenden.
The workshop will be delivered by the Education and Outreach Officer from the Byre Theatre, who will share drama games and exercises and workshop plans on how to make, create a piece of devised, contemporary theatre in the Secondary classroom.

Safer Internet Day 2012
Safer Internet Day (SID) 2012 takes place tomorrow on Tuesday 7 February with a theme of ‘Connecting generations and educating each other’, and the slogan “Discover the digital World together…safely!”
This is a great context for delivering creative learning experiences!
National Galleries of Scotland art competition for schools
In 2012 the National Galleries of Scotland (NGS) art competition for schools celebrates its ninth year and the NGS has welcomed a new title partner. The Tesco Bank Art Competition for Schools hopes to inspire children across the country with the National Galleries of Scotland’s superb collection of artworks.
Over 30,000 children from all over Scotland have participated since 2004. An exhibition of the winning works from 2011 is on show at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary from 20 January – 24 May 2012 so why not go along and check out the talent on display?
This year’s winning works will be proudly displayed at the newly refurbished Scottish National Portrait Gallery.
There are six categories to choose from: Nursery; Lower and Upper Primary; Secondary and Special Education Schools. With clear links to Curriculum for Excellence and fabulous prizes to be won make sure not to miss the closing date of 4 May 2012.

Fife Diversity Week 12th to 18th March
Diversity week is an opportunity for Fife’s schools to be part of the celebration of Fife’s rich and diverse culture. Everyone can contribute to making this event a success and there are many different ways in which you can do this.

Children’s writing competition 500 Words returns to Chris Evans Breakfast Show on Radio 2
