We-CTV, the Scottish Youth Parliament’s anti-knife crime project

Download the entry pack here

The deadline for entry to We-CTV, the Scottish Youth Parliament’s anti-knife crime project, has been extended until Monday 5th November 2012 – there’s now just a week to get your entries in!

All the young people you work with have to do in the next week is spend an hour or so putting together a storyboard and completing the entry form – in return you get to help them to engage with the issue of knife crime and enter a national competition, with the chance to win top notch prizes.

If you are intending to participate, it’d be great to hear back from you to help us to work out how many entries we’re likely to have – give us a call (0131 557 0452) or send an email to steven.k@syp.org.uk to let us know.

This is a great opportunity to engage with knife crime in a quick, fun way.  The project is supported by the Scottish Government’s No Knives, Better Lives initiative – find out more information and download everything you’ll need to enter at www.syp.org.uk/wectv.

Africa In Motion

Find out what’s going on now here!

The main aims of the festival have been, since its inception, to introduce Scottish audiences to the brilliance of African cinema and to overcome the under-representation and marginalisation of African film in British film-going culture. We believe that the best way to learn about Africa is to listen to African voices and to view representations created by African themselves, as these often counter the stereotypical representations we see from Africa in mainstream media in the West. But our main reason for screening the films is because we believe they are great films which should be seen the world over. Over the past six years we have screened over 200 African films to audiences totalling around 15,000 people!

Travelling Gallery’s Spring exhibition

We are now taking bookings for the Travelling Gallery’s Spring exhibition, which will tour from 25th February to 7th June 2013.

The exhibition ‘Was that a Smile?’ (working title) will be a group show of 8 – 10 established and emerging artists from both home and abroad, who work in a broad range of media including drawing, animation, film, sculpture, photography, painting and digital media. The exhibition will include artists who use a playful, feel good essence in their work, sometimes hiding darker depths but more often making us smile.

A 5 day tour is £700 + VAT and the Travelling Gallery can visit a different venue each day. Hirers need to supply a draft itinerary and the Travelling Gallery team will do the rest.

We hope you find this of interest and look forward to hearing from you. Please don’t hesitate to contact us if you require any further information. Our tours often book up very quickly so please get in touch soon to secure your preferred dates.
