Jolly Phonics – 24th August 2016

We learned two interesting sounds today! We learned that the letters ‘c’, ‘k’ and ‘ck’ all make the same sound.

The picture in our Big Book today showed a Spanish dancer clicking castanets, so we watched a clip of Spanish dancing and gave it a go!

Tips for Phonics at Home:

Try to encourage your child to hear the sounds at the end of words as well as at the beginning. This forms an important part of blending and reading development.  When discussing the sound learned each day as your child to identify where in the word they hear the sound, the start, middle or end?

Jolly Phonics – 23rd August 2016

We learned our new sound ‘n’ today in Jolly Phonics.

We had lots of fun using whiteboards and pens to write our sounds with Mrs Watson.

Tips for Phonics at Home:

Help your child identify phonics sounds by having a sound hunt around the house. Write the sounds we have learned so far on post it notes and hide them around the house. When your child finds one ask them what sound it is.

Jolly Phonics – 22nd August 2016

We learned our new sound ‘p’ today in Jolly Phonics.

To help us learn the letter formation whilst also working out those tricky fine motor muscles, we made our sound using playdough!

Tips for Phonics at Home:

Use three coloured pens to write a rainbow letter ‘p’.

(Write the initial letter in pencil and trace over three times with colours of your child’s choice.)

Jolly Phonics – 17th August 2016

We learned our new sound ‘t’ in Jolly Phonics today.

We had lots of fun using a tennis ball and large letters to practice letter formation. We also made our own tinfoil letter ‘t’.
