Fireworks Investigation

When discussing events in November, we discussed the exciting events that occur on the 5th of November.

“It’s Fireworks night!” -Nina

“I’ve never been to see the fireworks but I will this year.” – Jamin

“They are loud and go POP!” – Noah

“Rolo our pet doesn’t like the fireworks because they are so loud.” -Ava

We learned some safety rules for Fireworks night. Have a look at these at home together using the powerpoint below:

Miss Dunn explained that Firework’s night has another name. Sometimes the 5th of November is called Guy Fawkes Night.

Miss Dunn set us a challenge at home to find out why it is called Guy Fawkes Night. Hopefully some people will have information to share about this tomorrow!

Autumn is Here!

Within our mathematics and numeracy we have been learning all about the seasons and features of these. Our focus this week was…

I am aware of how routines and events in my world link with times and seasons, and have explored ways to record and display these using clocks, calendars and other methods. MNU 0-10a

We have written lists of Autumn colours, gone on an Autumn hunt, taken Autumn leave rubbings and written our own story about kicking the leaves.

Joshua: “In Autumn the leaves fly off the trees.”

Jamin: “Autumn colours are red and orange. They are like sun fire colours but the weather is actually windy and cold in Autumn.”

Katie: “All the animals like hedgehogs get ready for winter. It’s too cold for them.”

Crisp Autumnal Days

We have been making the most of the dry, crisp weather in our outdoor learning area. With the leaves changing colour and falling into our playground we found some creative ways to play and learn with them. Some of us decided to make pumpkin pies using leaves as our ingredients, some created magical autumn castles and some even used the bamboo tubes to pour water on top of the dry leaves to investigate the effect.

No matter what the aim of our exploration was, we all certainly had fun with this very seasonal resource! DSCF0824[1] DSCF0821[1] DSCF0807[1] DSCF0798[1]
