Sports Day at Uplawmoor

The children worked in their houses to gain lots of points towards winning  the prestigious House cup (to be revealed on Tuesday). The rain stayed off and the staff, pupils, friends and families had a great time spectating and taking part in a variety of sporting activities. Well done to the winning house on the day – Libo!

Final dates for your diary

As our session comes to an end we would like to remind you about our last remaining upcoming events.

Sports Day is rescheduled to Wednesday 21st June to allow the field to dry as there are a few dry days forecast.

Our Celebration of Achievements will take place at the Church at midday on Tuesday 28th June.  The celebration will finish at 1pm and children should be picked up from the church as the school will be closed.  No lunches are available that day so remember to supply your child with a snack for playtime.

We look forward to hopefully seeing you at these events!

A BIG THANK YOU!

Uplawmoor Primary School and our Gardening Committee would like to say thank you to Mundell Landscapes for donating compost to our school garden.  Thanks to you we have been able to plant some delicious vegetables!  Click on the link below to see our thank you letter from the gardening committee.  Mundells Garden Committee Thanks 14Jun17

If there are any parents who would like to start a ‘watering rota’ to look after the beds in the playground we would be extremely  grateful.  It would be such a shame to come back in August if all of our hard work was ruined.

Uplawmoor Gala Run

There were lots of entrants from Uplawmoor Primary School for the 1k at the gala and we look forward to seeing their medals and  trophies at assembly.  A special WELL DONE goes to the 3k runners. There were only 2 school entrants for the 3k distance. Christopher Rae returned in 3rd place for the boys with a time of 12.58 And most especially Alex goldie who was our youngest entrant, she ran a determined race despite being up against girls much older than her – some in high school! Both runners were a credit to themselves and the school and we are very proud of them both.  Well done Alex and Christopher!

What to do in an Emergency?

Health Week continued with the First Responders coming to teach us what to do in an emergency.    The children were also shown how to use the defibrillator which is located at the Mure Hall.  Very worthwhile training for every single one of us!

HEALTH WEEK ACTIVITIES CONTINUE

Health week continues with children meeting Lynn and Colin and their beautiful guide dogs Jason and Eva.  We learned about what it is like to be blind and how these wonderful dogs change the lives of blind people.

The children also learned about Makaton which uses signs and symbols to help people to communicate with one another.

The Sourdough bakery came to talk about where our food comes from.  The children could explore how food tastes, smells, feels and what noise it makes when you eat it.  Today the Science Centre are here to show us how our bodies work.

Neilston Show

A huge well done to Team Uplawmoor who represented our school at the annual Neilston Show.  They have trained hard in tug and relay over the past few weeks and we are proud of their positive attitude towards their training.

A special congratulations to the girls relay team (Carly, Toni,  Ashley, Mia, Mary- sub) who came first!  What a wonderful achievement.
