National Parent Forum of Scotland

Please click on this link http://www.gov.scot/Publications/2015/09/7802 to read the details of the National Improvement Framework launched by the Scottish Government.

The Scottish Government are keen to progress all of the parts of the Framework however the pace of the development of the Framework is incredibly fast including the strand that will see the outcome of the national standardised assessments.  The next stage in the process is the development of a data Dashboard that will contain specific school / local information on the outcomes following the full implementation of the Framework.

The Forum has been asked to seek parents views and comments on the proposed Dashboard which will be available to primary and secondary schools and will detail how well the school and its young people are meeting the objectives of the Framework.  Among other things, parents are being asked what should the aims of the dashboard be, its purpose and whether it should be “locked” at a school level or whether there should be a notional comparator, similar to Insight.  The Forum has compiled a number of questions for parents and this will be in the form of a  DoodlePoll and I will issue this to you once it is completed.

It is important that parents get the opportunity to discuss the proposed dashboard as a group and accordingly the Forum has arranged a meeting on Wednesday 16 December at 7pm at Holyrood Secondary in Glasgow to seek parents views and I hope that you can make it.  It is important that the Scottish Government get as many parental views as possible given the importance of our views and especially given the expectations placed upon parents by the Framework.  We hope to see you there.

Enrolment January 2016

Registering your child for Primary School
East Renfrewshire Council has set up one week when you should register your son or daughter at your local primary school.  You must register at your catchment school, even if you intend to make a placing request to another school or to defer your place and keep your son or daughter at home for another year.

If you intend to educate your child privately or at home, you should still register at your local catchment school.

You may choose to enrol your son or daughter in either the local denominational or local non-denominational school.  This choice will determine the secondary school to which your child will transfer.

If he or she is aged five between 1st March 2016 and the end of February 2017 you should go along to the primary school between 1.45pm and 3.30pm any day during the week of Monday 11th January – Friday 15th January 2016.

You should bring your son or daughter’s birth certificate, child benefit statement, a copy of your current council tax notice and mortgate statement or rental agreement.  The school can also accept a driving licence, utility bill or bank statement if you are no longer in receipt of child benefit.

IMPORTANT- Parking/Traffic Issues

Inconsiderate and illegal parking on the roads, pavements and car parks in and around the school risks the safety of children and adults who accompany them to school.

We require co-operation from all parents/carers to minimise the risk of accidents and avoid congestion.

Please be considerate to our neighbours when parking in streets surrounding the school.

*No children should be passing through the school car park at any time*
Please reinforce this message with your children

Many thanks for your cooperation
