Triathlon

An inter-school triathlon is being organised for East Renfrewshire pupils and we need to speak to any pupil who may be interested in taking part in such an event.

You may be a keen runner, swimmer or cyclist but would like to attempt the three disciplines in one event! You may already compete in triathlons. Please speak with me if you would like to be considered for this. The event itself is planned to go ahead on Wednesday 1st April but further details will be given.

The distances for each discipline are below to give you an indication of the difficulty and your own suitability.

S1 – 800m run, 1 lap of cycle trail route, 50m swim

S2 – 1000m run, 1 lap of cycle trail route, 100m swim

S3 – 1200m run, 1 lap of cycle trail route, 150m swim

Seniors – 1500m run, 1 lap of cycle trail route, 200m swim

Mr Murphy (PE Dept) will record those who are interested so please inform him before Friday 27th  of February  if you would like to be considered.

ERC Dance Championships

Would any S1-S6 pupils or staff be interested in entering the following competition?

East Renfrewshire Dance Championships on Tuesday 24th March in Eastwood High School – 6.30pm – 9.30pm.

Each routine should last for a maximum of 3 minutes

Entries will be accepted for the following categories:

  • Cheerleading
  • Street Dance
  • Commonwealth (Bollywood, Irish, Highland etc)
  • Contemporary
  • Staff
  • Other

Please note we will accept both group and individual entries. If interested then please attend a short meeting with Mr Murphy/Mrs McNab on Thursday 19th February at 12.50pm in PE Dept. If you are unable to attend the meeting but are interested then please pass our details on to Mr Murphy/Mrs McNab.

East Renfrewshire Carers’ Centre has organised meetings for parents who are looking after a child or young person on the Autistic Spectrum and parents who look after a girl with Asperger’s.

S1 and S2 Drama workshop

There will be a drama workshop on Tuesday 24th February  at 3.45- 4.45pm.

This workshop will be led by the theatre company- Collusion.  The focus is on WW1, you will focus on characters of your own age at a time when a war is coming/ underway.

These workshops are the first stage of a larger project ( all funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund) where you can  put yourselves forward to take part in further workshops (out of school time) and rehearsals in order to undertake a period of research and to devise a longer performance to be presented in Summer 2015.
