Senior Boys Volleyball Cup Final

On Thursday 14th March, our senior boys took part in the Scottish Schools Cup Final at Coatbridge High School.   They fought in a tight match against Belmont Academy, previous winners of the Kelvin Hall National Festival in November.   Knowing it was going to be a tough match, the boys have been practicing hard over the last few weeks.

The match was nip and tuck the full way with Belmont coming out on top 25-19, 25-23.   The second set in particular could have gone either way.

Commiserations to the boys, but a huge congratulations required for getting to the Scottish Cup Final.   Well done boys:

Ross Taylor, Jhon Villaber, Ryan Magowan, Jamie Gemmell, Bilal Hussain, Darren Martin, Ian Clark, David Milton, Ross MacKenzie.

Thank you also to the fabulous supporters that came to watch.

Lynne Plays Well Despite Defeat

Our adopted olympian Lynne Beattie, captain of the GB Woman’s Volleyball team, had an outstanding game in her first Olympic Games match against Russia on Saturday at Earls Court.

Women’s head volleyball coach Audrey Cooper said: “I thought our captain, Lynne Beattie, had a really super game today, especially in the first set. She was attacking every inch of the net and played very controlled.”

GB women play Algeria tonight (10:00pm).  Good Luck Lynne!!!!
