Thank you to all pupils who submitted entries to the Social Subjects Praise Postcard competition. The ideas were fantastic and the judging process proved extremely difficult. The Social Subjects staff would like to congratulate the following pupils on their designs:
Congratulations to the S3 Public Speaking Team (Claudia Marcusson, Scott Miller and Eleanor Monks) on coming runners-up at the East Renfrewshire heat of the S3 Youth Speech Competition. They delivered very strong speeches against some tough competition, they were excellent representatives of Mearns Castle.
The team now have the honour of representing Mearns Castle again at the Regional Final at the Normandy Hotel on the 20th November.
Winner of this week’s cake competition is Steven Clark of S2 who can collect his cake this Thursday lunchtime.
Baking it to India is this lunchtime outside the Support for Learning rooms.
On Friday night at Glasgow Ski Centre the 2013 SSSA Dual Slalom Series, were held.
MCHS had two teams entered in the experienced secondary category and all racers skied exceptionally well. This was the last qualifier of the series which has been run at 8 venues right across Scotland including Aberdeen, Aviemore and Edinburgh and engaging more than 500 skiers. MCHS A team won the event and MCHS B team were the runners up.

Congratulations to all skiers and good Luck to our A team who will now progress to the Final on Thursday 31st October at Snow Factor Braehead.

Andrew Mullen improved on his performances in last year’s Paralympics by coming back from Montreal with a trio of IPC Swimming worlds medals.
Andrew, who is a former Scottish disability sport athlete of the year, claimed 50m butterfly bronze and silver in the 50m backstroke and 200m medley. As with last year’s Paralympics, Andrew broke personal best times in all his events.
Well done Andrew. MCHS is sooooo proud of you!!!
Pupils and staff at MCHS put on their shades yesterday and raised over £950 for Yorkhill Children’s Charity.
