Sensory Workshops

Classes Iona and  Shetland worked together to prepare and set up a sensory showcase for their families and friends from the primary department.

Everyone had a great day exploring the nursery rhyme themes sensory day.

Some of the parents then joined class Iona as part of the showcase and took part in their morning group.

Well done everyone for a great day.

Go Green for Halloween

Pupils and staff dressed up in green today for “Go Green for Halloween” to support NSPCC charity.

We had some activities organised by class Islay to raise money for NSPCC. The sensory challenge box was a particular favourite and the chocolate dipped popcorn and apples went down a treat.
Brogan helped out at the creative corner and encouraged her friends to create a Halloween picture.

Communication

Communication is at the heart of everything we do at Isobel Mair School.

Mrs McEwan is modelling and communication using PODD with one of her pupils during a dance session, talking about the different body parts used in the dance.

Miss McKay is modelling PODD with one of her P1 pupils during a SMARTBoard activity.

Head Boy & Girl Assembly

This afternoon at our Head Boy and Girl assembly, our students were presented with their blazers and badges.

They were so excited to get their blazers but nervous about saying the school promise.

We are delighted to inform you that this year we have two head boys, Marc Wilson and Rob Kenwell and our Head girl is Katherine Butler.
They will be supported by our school prefects, Nicholas, Stuart Cherry and Rebecca Withers.

Congratulations to Harry, P1 who was awarded star of the week for class Shetland.

Have a look at some of our photographs from the assembly this afternoon.

Happy birthday also to everyone have birthdays this week.

Whodunnit?

Classes Yell and Fetler have been working on their school assembly which will take place in a few weeks.

They decided to write a short whodunit  type play…………………..”There’s been a murder”.

So with teacher support they came up with some ideas and created a storyboard.

This afternoon they filmed some of the scenes, very exciting as they all got into character.

Self Assessment

Self assessment time in class Shetland.

Class Shetland  worked hard today and  Mrs McConnell is rewarding them with  happy faces for good work.

One of our new P1 pupils  was singing the happy face song to Jake, which he loved!

Once they put up their happy face, they have to count how many they have.

Education Committee

Some of our senior pupils, including our Head Boy Marc
Wilson attended the Education Committee meeting this morning
to talk about their recent visit to Lochgoilhead for the annual
“Make your Dreams Come True weekend”.

Miss Scrimgeour introduced all the pupils, including Zara and
Zohaib from Woodfarm school and gave a brief overview of the
weekend and then supported the young people with their answers.

Stewart talked about how he took part in the very first
Duke of Edinburgh bronze award.
Hiking and an overnight stay in a tent were some of the activities
he talked about.

Marc explained how we took a group of students from class Arran and how they loved the water activities on the boat.

Zain used his AAC  device to ask if he can go back to Lochgoilhead next year. He was so pleased with himself.
