Dear Parent / Carer

As you know we do not usually issue texts unless we need to convey urgent information or if we need to monitor responses.  We would like to advise you in advance that we will be issuing a text tomorrow because new Data Protection law means that periodically we need to check your wishes for your child taking home confidential information.  You have already completed paperwork to consent to your child bringing home confidential information but if we do not receive your response to tomorrow’s text it will mean that next session we are unable to send home items such as end of year reports or the annual data information which we issue in August.

Please do NOT respond to this email but we would be grateful if you could reply to the text tomorrow – a copy of which is shown below.

“New Data Protection law means we need to check your wishes for your child taking home confidential information.  If you are happy to continue reply 1, if you are not happy reply 2.  Please only use numerical 1 or 2 in your reply, no other characters.  Thank you”

We have been advised by East Renfrewshire Council that as we are now expected to participate in the European Elections on Thursday 23rd May 2019 Giffnock Primary School will be used as a polling station, therefore being closed for school to all of our children that day.

Please note that should the situation change and the UK formally leave the European Union before the 23rd May, then our participation in the election will cease and the closure day would not be required.

Following our return from the Spring Break, our children in Primaries 1, 4 and 7 will be taking part in the Scottish National Standardised Assessments as part of their ongoing class activities. All children in these stages across East Renfrewshire will be participating, as was the case last year, during a six week period across April and May. We would like to extend a very warm welcome for you to join us at Orchardhill Parish Church to celebrate with the children and staff at our Church Service on Friday 29th March at 11.00am.  Please note that nursery children will not now attend the church as previously explained.  If however you would like to take your nursery child along to the service yourself then please make arrangements to collect them with the nursery staff directly.

We would also advise you that the primary school will finish early at 2.30pm on Friday 29th March 2019 and the afternoon nursery class will finish at 4.00pm.  There will be no PM wrap sessions that day.

The primary school and nursery will resume as normal on Monday 15th April 2019.  We would, however, point out that the school will be closed again on Good Friday (19th April) and Easter Monday (22nd April).

The date and time of the Summer Church Service have changed a little over the past few months and therefore could you please make a note that it will take place at 10:30am on Thursday 27th June at Orchardhill Parish Church.
