Fireworks & Cakes

We enjoyed listening to a firework story and then we made sparkly firework pictures.  We were working on our fine motor skills to complete this task.

Café Latte has opened again for the year so we were busy making cupcakes for the café on Friday.  Everyone was effective contributors and enjoying making and of course doing a quick quality control taste test once they were ready.

Active Numeracy SQA

The Beech class are completing a number processes SQA unit this year.  We are successful learners and confident individuals when we practise our number targets every week by taking part in different activities.

Lyle and Valo played a game of penalties where they had to answer number related questions before taking a shot at goal!

Literacy and Communication Work

We practise our literacy ILP targets in groups with a range of different activities each week.  Last week we tried using games and music to help us make learning fun!  We were successful learners as we each worked hard on our given targets.

Literacy through music beats!  Sean and Skye are working on sounding out names and sounds using instruments.

Lyle, Nicole, Valo and Gemma are working on their letter and sound recognition by playing Connect Four with a twist!  They have to select the correct letters that are written on the counters!   We practised our communication skills by playing circle time games.  This game was Chinese Whispers!  We had lots of fun making up sounds to pass on to a friend, then listening to the sound we ended up with at the end! We used the physiotherapy ball to choose which friends we wanted to share with or pass messages on to.

Play in our local community

Confident Individuals/Effective Contributors

The Snowdrops all demonstrated confident play skills during a recent visit to Burger King soft play.  Everyone moved really well throughout the soft play area – taking turns, climbing, crawling, sliding and problem solving.  Lots of imaginative play developed, as the Snowdrops pretended to be animals, making animal sounds and movements.  Of course, the adults had to join in too!

Comet Class and the Giant Peach FAOL

Comet class has been working hard over the last few weeks making our own giant peach just like the one in our story ‘James and the Giant Peach’. And just like Aunt Sponge and Aunt Spiker we decided to sell tickets to show off our peach. Finally the day arrived last Friday!  Lots of classes came  along  to see our giant peach, and they all got a lovely fruit pot that we had prepared as well. It was a fantastic day with everyone in Comet class doing a fantastic job!
