A wee trip out.

On Wednesday morning we were all confident individuals and made a trip out to Dewaldens Garden Centre for morning snack. We went in the mini buses, enjoying the trip through Kilmarnock and arrived there safely. The ladies in the café were lovely and even though it was busy they moved some tables so we could all sit together. We ordered our snacks and enjoyed each other company and then a wee wandered through the shop back to the bus.

Purple Day and LGBT Assembly

*Effective Contributors*   *Responsible Citizens*

This week the Moonbeams enjoyed taking part in some sensory purple activities as well as wearing something purple to celebrate Purple Day. On Wednesday the Moonbeams also helped to present their LGBT Assembly. We spoke about how we are all different and why we should all be proud to be who we are. At the end of Assembly we invited all the classes up to have a little Pride Party. The children enjoyed dancing with lots of colourful props.

Prom Update!

The Prom committee was hard at work this morning as we continued preparing for our 2020 casino themes prom!  We tested out some of the casino games we have acquired, designed our invites and finished off some of our centrepieces.  We were very responsible citizens and worked hard to follow all instructions during each activity.

Pancake Fun!

We celebrated shrove Tuesday this week by making our own pancakes!  We enjoyed learning about the ingredients, making a shopping list and sequencing the recipe card the day before.  On the Tuesday we had fun mixing all the ingredients and following the recipe card.  We then practised our money handling skills and communication by ordering our toppings and paying for them using a price list!  We were successful learners and effective contributors throughout the morning.

Active Numeracy

The Beech class worked hard today during our active numeracy session.  We are experiencing the different number processes and today we focused on subtraction.  We learned by playing different games.  we played Skittles, Lego towers, switch-it and dice games and focused on our counting skills and the different mathematical words we use like; “how many more/left”.  We were very successful learners.

LGBT – Giraffes Can’t Dance

Responsible Citizen – Effective Contributors – Successful Learners

The Snowdrops have enjoyed exploring our story Giraffes can’t dance.  We have explored ways we are all good at different things and had fun trying some animal yoga positions!  The Snowdrops have also been creative using different colours and textures to make an LGBT flag and heart-shaped rainbow, thinking about being kind.

Pancake Day

Today is Pancake Day we had pancakes for snack and really enjoyed playing in the afternoon with our pancake tuff tray. We mixed all the ingredients in the bowl, matched labels with the images of the items needed and flipped pictures of pancakes. All the children had great fun. They were all confident individuals with their flipping skills and everyone used lots of words when touching the ingredients.
