IDL – How Toys Move

Successful Learners     Confident Individuals

During our Toy theme, the Snowdrops have enjoyed exploring how toys move. Everyone focussed their attention as we watched as toys that were still began to move. The Snowdrops were confident that they could make toys move, too.  Everyone participated actively in trying things out! We had great fun rolling marbles in paint to make patterns, rolling balls to knock cups down, pushing bricks together and pulling them apart, pushing cars forward and back, pulling toys  with  strings and pushing and pulling various buttons and levers. Lots of moving toys! Some Snowdrops even had a go at making a skateboard move! Well done, Snowdrops!

HOW ARE YOU FEELING? *SUNGAZERS EDITION*

The Sungazers had a musical afternoon whilst learning about our emotions. Each song showed various emotions and we discussed that all emotions are ok. After choosing our name, deciding how we felt and pressing the speaker which played a short audio clip of the emotion selected, we enjoyed expressing this emotion in a dance, facial expression or verbally.

Dinosaurs – Numeracy MNU 0-20a Heights and Weights

Successful Learners

During numeracy time, the Sunflower’s have been learning to identify differences in our dinosaurs. Each child helped put the dinosaurs on each side of a set of scales to identify which was heavy and light. We also looked at ordering dinosaurs from smallest to tallest. Some pupils were also able to chose the smallest, tallest, heaviest and lightest dinosaur when questioned.

Fine motor Friday

Today we had lots of fun with lots of fine motor activity.

We were confident individuals holding each of the items we needed to. We had to collect the correct coloured pegs and push them into the board to make the picture on the box.  We pinched pipe cleaners and poked them through to give the octopus legs. We used special tweezers to pick up the bananas and feed them to the monkey.

IDL: Ramadan and Eid

We have been celebrating and learning all about Islam, the month of Ramadan and the festival of Eid in the Beech class recently.  we have made beautiful decorations, studied the pillars of Islam and explored virtual mosques.

We also made the Ramadan crescent moon and star out of a paper plate and put a special challenge on the star for a friend to complete.  An important part of Ramadan is taking time to help others and being kind.  We set a ‘be kind’ challenge on our star for a friend to complete before the end of Ramadan.

We also explored Arabic writing and language and completed a craft activity twitch our names written in Arabic.  We used Islamic art techniques and colours to decorate our names.

We made a traditional chicken curry to help celebrate the end of Ramadan and the start of Eid.  We took some home for our family to try and the feedback was really positive!

Comets

2.5.22

On Tuesday we had a lovely visit from Miss Robertson and baby Luna. The comets loved seeing both of them and baby Luna got plenty of attention. We did a lot of hard work and even made our own 3D ocean using art and recycled materials. They look great.

On Wednesday the comets had Mrs McDonald and did plenty of fun art. They made there own American flag.

On Friday we did plenty of literacy and numeracy activities. We went to the garden and looked to see if anything new had grown.

Well done Comets. Have a great weekend.
