Willowbank School, KilmarnockThe Transition boys were Successful Learners when they used their Literacy skills. The boys matched descriptions of witches from their class book to the sensory art that they all made. They all listened very well to each description then found the witch on the board.
The Transition boys were Effective Contributors when they all worked together to make Spaghetti Bolognaise. Some of the boys used their chopping skills and others safely added the ingredients to the pan. They all used their numeracy skills to weigh out individual portions of pasta. We then sat down to share the food. What a tasty conclusion to a lesson.
The Transition boys had a great time this week when they shared games. They were Confident Individuals and worked very well together. Some great numeracy skills were on display using dice, counters, spinners and timers. Some boys used the time to practice literacy skills. A great effort by all.
The Transition boys were Successful Learners in their SQA Residential class. They used the computer to find out about Dumfries House and print extracts of what they found. The boys went even further and used their literacy skills when they asked if they could type up short summaries or titles for each photograph they selected. They worked extremely hard!
It was the Transition Class’s turn to take the assembly this week. The theme was Friendship. The boys were Effective Contributors and took turns at demonstrating what you can do with friends. The pictures show the boys rehearsing for their assembly
After all their hard work, the Transition boys blew off some steam with a brilliant ceilidh on Friday afternoon. The boys were Effective Contributors joining in dances with other classes. A great end to a great day!
The Transition boys put in a great shift this Friday when they set up for and served the Burns’ Supper. Patrick performed ‘My Heart’s in the Highlands’ to get things started. The boys were Confident Individuals and served all the food carefully and with great manners. As School Captain Ethan sat at the top table and made the Transition Class very proud. Well done all!
The Transition boys were busy on Thursday afternoon in their SQA Hospitality class preparing cheese and oatcakes for the Burns’ Supper. They were Responsible Citizens when completing their tasks and even pressed their aprons ready for waiting on the tables at the Burns’ Supper.
The Transition boys were Successful Learners this week when we used our remote control bug to practice listening and following directions. The boys were set directional challenges and managed to get the bug the correct way around an obstacle and back to the start. Some even managed to get the bug under the obstacle!
The Transition boys helped set up the room this week and were Responsible Citizens. Ryan presented our views to the Pupil Council.
