FAOL – Transition – Kelpies

The pupils in the Transition Class have been discovering more about the use of warm and cold colours in art. The boys were asked to create a mixed media Kelpie for the class display board.

Firstly, the designs were coloured, using a water based pen. This was then overlaid with tissue paper and the inks were allowed to bleed to create a watery effect.

Super successful learners. Well done everyone!

FAOL – Beech – Batman Craft

Can you make the Batman symbol glow?

The Beech Class made clever use of some sticky back plastic and orange cellophane to  solve the design problem!

Lots of focus and attention was required to carefully create these impressive Batman sun catchers.

FAOL – Beech – My Superhero

The pupils in the Beech class responded well and actively engaged in creating their own superhero.

The full class discussed, with staff, what their superhero qualities would be. Lots of fun ideas and contribution from peers. The characters were made from a range of sensory materials.

Well done to these effective contributors and  successful learners.

IDL – Literacy

We have been learning all about Goldilocks and the three bears.

We looked at the different sized bowls, beds and chairs and matched them to the correct bear. It was lots of fun and then we made beds for each of the bears in the story. One was a BIG bed for Daddy bear, one was a small bed for baby and and one was medium sized bed for Mummy bear. Some of the children were able to tell me which chair, bowl and bed Goldilocks preferred.

Outdoor Learning Week

Confident individuals/ effective contributors/ Responsible citizens

We have had lots of fun this week for outdoor learning week. We enjoyed a walk to the Kay park and had our snack and did some yoga. Everyone was very responsible and tidied up our rubbish and brought it back to school to put in the bin.  Miss Hill brought in a tent and we pretended to have a camp fire and toast marshmallows.  We also enjoyed looking at the clouds, catching the rain and a sensory colour hunt in the garden. We all love being outside so lots of happy Bluebells.

50 things outdoors – rain

The Bluebells experienced the rain last week. We made cloud viewers and went out to look at the sky and experience the rain on our face.  The rain was not heavy so we did not manage to splash in any puddles.  We also explored how rain is created by completing the rain in a jar science experiment.

50 things outdoors – Windswept

We explored  wind whilst being outdoors. We experienced the wind on our face and how when it is strong it may blow objects around outside. We made our own wind sock to explore what would happen on a windy day. We took our wind socks outside and watched as the wind blew the tissue paper streamers  at the bottom.  The wind can sometimes blow rubbish into our outdoor area and we are responsible citizens and will tidy up.

50 things outdoors- bird watching

The Bluebells make binoculars to use and look up at the sky to find birds. They were confident individuals and were able to use their fine motor skills to peel and attach stickers to decorate their binoculars. We even used some real binoculars from the science box to look for birds. We could see sea gulls in the sky.
