50 Things – Flying a kite

The Asteroids enjoyed making and flying their own paper bag kites.

We were confident choosing how we were going to decorate our paper bags and then we followed verbal and visual instructions to turn the paper bags in to kites.

We took the finished kites to the playground and garden to test them out. We agreed it could have done with being a bit more windy!

Most of us were able to, independently, lift our kites in the air and fly them.

Fly high!

50 THINGS – WINDSWEPT

*Successful Learners*

As part of our ‘50 Things – Windswept’ activity, we’ve definitely experienced the feeling of wind on our bodies and face throughout the seasons. This week we watched how the wind effected different objects as it made the dandelions blow around. We also tried blowing them and creating our own wind. We made sure to make a wish!

IDL: Ancient Egyptians Discovery

*Confident Individuals*

This week as part of our Egyptian topic we were exploring non-fiction books all about ancient Egyptian life and landmarks.  We were filling out fact files all about different aspects of ancient Egypt using the information we were finding out after reading our books.

We were also practising our use of standard and non-standard units to measure out the size of some of the major landmarks of Egypt such as the Sphinx, the pyramids, the Nile and Anubis.

IDL – How Toys Move

Successful Learners     Confident Individuals

During our Toy theme, the Snowdrops have enjoyed exploring how toys move. Everyone focussed their attention as we watched as toys that were still began to move. The Snowdrops were confident that they could make toys move, too.  Everyone participated actively in trying things out! We had great fun rolling marbles in paint to make patterns, rolling balls to knock cups down, pushing bricks together and pulling them apart, pushing cars forward and back, pulling toys  with  strings and pushing and pulling various buttons and levers. Lots of moving toys! Some Snowdrops even had a go at making a skateboard move! Well done, Snowdrops!
