Mr Gray joined us at Get Together this morning to tell us that KiDZONE is running their Under The Sea club each night this week at Bridgend Gospel Hall from 6-7pm. This is available to P1-P7 pupils.
Please see poster below for more information.
Our school communication platforms range from: sharing important information and news (via the school app and blog), personal learning progress and targets (via Learning Journals) and photos of learning and success stories across the school (previously via ‘X’)
Our Social Media platform is now changing and we will no longer be using ‘X’ to share our successes.
We would like to know from our families which platform they would find most useful moving forward. Please vote below.
We are delighted that we still have remaining funds from our previous New Cumnock Development Trust grant, which will enable us to be able to run our Breakfast Club in Term 1, for free to our families!!!
We continue to actively seek funding which will allow us to continue this provision for the remainder of the school year. Please keep your eyes on our school communications for further information about this, as the school year goes on.
We are extremely grateful to the NCDT for providing the funds to enable us to run this club, which not only supports the Health and Wellbeing needs of our young people, but supports our families too.
Please note:
Please complete the Form below if you wish to register your child to attend.
Good afternoon!
We hope you have all had a lovely summer holiday with your families. We are looking forward to seeing all of our children return to school tomorrow, Wednesday 19th August.
New P1 Pupils:
On Wednesday 19th August, our new Primary 1 pupils will be met in the playground by Mrs Clarke, Mrs Elliott and Mrs McMurdo at 9.15am. We kindly ask that P1 parents refrain from entering the playground before 9am. This will allow us to get the P2 – P7 children into the school safely before your arrival. Once our P1s arrive, a maximum of 2 parents of each child will be invited into the school to see them in their new classroom. This should be a quick visit to prevent your child becoming upset.
P1 parents should collect their child from the playground at the end of the day. The P1 teacher will bring the children out at 2.55pm before the playground gets busy when the rest of the school is dismissed at 3pm.
Playground Arrangements:
Morning –
Children should enter the playground at the gate at the front of the school and walk along the path beside the staff carpark or enter via the gate beside the ECC which leads straight into our playground. Please note, that pupils should not enter the playground before 8.45am in the morning. The playground is not manned by staff until 8.45am, therefore children should not be in the playground prior to this time, to ensure their safety.
There shouldn’t be any parents coming into the playground in the morning (with the exception of new P1 parents on their child’s first day.) Staff will be at both gates to support children into school if needed.
From Thursday onwards, our P7 buddies will be on hand in the playground to help P1 children get to their zone and into their line at the 9am bell.
End of the Day –
Please remember that only P1-P3 parents are permitted to pick their children up from the playground at the end of the day to prevent congestion when our children are leaving. P4-P7 parents, please arrange a meeting spot with your child outside the playground if appropriate.
School Attendance:
All East Ayrshire Council schools are required to maintain an accurate attendance record for all pupils. When your child is absent from school, parents/carers are required to notify the school of the reason why. This can be done by:
School Uniform:
We expect all of our pupils to be wearing school uniform to ensure they are easily identifiable and represent Team New Cumnock. If you require support with this, we have a well stocked pre-loved uniform stock (including polo shirts, jumpers, hoodies, trousers, skirts, pinafores, jackets and shoes) in our main reception. Please come to the office and have a look and take what you need.
Free Toast and Fruit:
We are delighted that we still have enough funding remaining from our previous NCDT grant to enable us to run our Breakfast Club again in Term 1. Please find the relevant post on our school blog and app which will contain a link to register your child’s attendance at Breakfast Club.
Please do not forget that as per East Ayrshire policy, we provide our children with free toast from 8.45am. Children can make their way into the dinner hall in the morning to get this. As well as this, we have free fruit available at morning interval.
PE Days:
Your children will receive 2 hours of PE each week. In order to participate fully, they are required to bring a change of footwear (plimsoles/trainers) and a change of bottoms (joggers/shorts/leggings) to wear for these lessons.
These can be put in a gym bag to remain on their peg in school or kept in their school bags.
PE days are as follows:
P1 (Mrs Clarke) MONDAY & WEDNESDAY
P1/2 (Mrs Elliott) WEDNESDAY & THURSDAY
P2/3 (Mrs Johnstone) TUESDAY & FRIDAY
P3/4 (Mrs Armour) TUESDAY & FRIDAY
P4/5 (Miss Lind) TUESDAY & THURSDAY
P5 (Miss McQueen) TUESDAY & FRIDAY
P6 (Mrs Ramsay/Miss Nicholl) MONDAY & WEDNESDAY
P6/7 (Mrs Petrie) WEDNESDAY & THURSDAY
P7 (Mrs Frew) MONDAY & THURSDAY
Names on Items:
Please ensure that you have your child’s name on ALL of their personal items, including clothing, packed lunches and water bottles. We had an obscene amount of lost and found items left at the end of last school year, that we were unable to relocate as they had no names!
School Lunches:
All primary school pupils in East Ayrshire are entitled to free school meals.
Our school meals menus operate on a three-week cycle. You can view the school meals weekly rotation schedule on the school blog.
Parents/carers are encouraged to pre-order their child’s lunches via ParentPay. If your child choses to bring a packed lunch, this option can also be recorded on ParentPay.
Data Forms:
Prior to the holidays, children were sent home with data check forms for completion. This is to ensure all the information we have on record is correct.
Included in this is photographic consent forms, which we require before we can upload images on our school blog and Learning Journals. We are really keen to start sharing our learning and successes with you so if you have not yet returned these, can we ask that you do so as soon as possible.
Please find the summer swimming timetable below. Book via phone call or Facebook messenger to avoid disappointment.
We are delighted to share that our school football team were the winners of the EA final last night after playing against Kilmaurs Primary School at Bonnyton Synergy Arena in Kilmarnock.
They edged a brilliant final with both teams playing some excellent football. New Cumnock brought home the Football Factory Cup with a 3-2 victory.

It was a great turnout of family and friends to support the players, exactly what football is all about!
A huge thank you to our school football coach Gus Hart, for his hard work and commitment to our players all session.
