The Inclusive Friendly Schools Committee would like to invite children (with the help of their parents/carers) to decorate a potato for World Book Day.

World Book Day 2023 - Potato Characters9 World Book Day Potato Characters ideas | world book day ...

I’d love to see your characters! Send a picture or bring your potato to school on Thursday.

Bring your favourite book to school this week to Show and Tell why you like it.

World Book Day provides a fantastic opportunity to focus on reading for pleasure and embed a habit of reading. We will be completing lots of activities that will hopefully encourage a love of reading throughout the whole year. This week we will focus on George’s Marvellous Medicine, and also continue working in our reading groups.
Numeracy
For the next few weeks we will be working on Time. During this topic, we will focus on:

  • telling the time 5 minute intervals
  • telling the time 1 minute intervals
  • using both analogue and digital clocks
  • using am and pm
  • using 24hr clock
  • time durations
Please also continue to practise times tables as often as possible.

This week is Children’s Mental Health Week so instead of the usual homework PowerPoint, there is a wellbeing grid to pick and choose activities from. Have fun completing as many as you can.

As part of our EA Clean Green Award, Mrs Fisher has signed Mauchline Primary & ECC up for a council initiative whereby we try to encourage families and the community to recycle their food waste.

A homework task has been assigned to each class. P3/4 have to design our own caddy character. Go on, let your imaginations run wild!

Please return all completed designs by Wednesday 14th February.
