White Rose Maths have teamed up with TV presenter, teacher and parent Michael Underwood to create a mini-series called Maths with Michael for parents and carers. We understand that many parents feel like maths has changed and can sometimes find it difficult to keep up to date with modern teaching methods in maths. This series provides short videos showing how parents can support numeracy at home using concrete and pictorial representations.

The children can wear their sporty clothes every day this week as we are celebrating Health Week and Walk to School Week.
Keep your eye on Twitter for some fabulous photographs of the children getting fit and healthy.
Try to walk to school this week if at all possible!
We are delighted to announce that our Primary 7 children will be taking part in a physical transition visit to Robert Burns Academy. All Primary 7 children will attend a two-hour session on Tuesday 22nd June. Full details will be sent out in due course.
RBA are also hosting a VIRTUAL parents’ evening over VSCENE. All details for this can be found on the school APP. The meeting takes plave on Wednesday 19th May from 6.30 – 7.30pm.
‘Walk to School Week coincides with Health Week next week from 17-21st May.
The JRSO have planned a week full of events to encourage participation in Walk to School Week.
Our main event is the EVEREST CHALLENGE.
We are trying to walk the same number of steps over the course of the week to school, as it would take to walk Mount Everest as a whole school.
We need 58,000 steps!
It would be great if we could all work together to achieve our challenge.
Steps can be counted by your child (an adult can help them), recorded on an activity watch or alternatively the internet can be used to look up the daily walk to school route for how many steps it takes. Teachers will then record the steps as a full class in the hope we can reach 58,000 by the end of the week!
The JRSO would also like all pupils to wear something bright each day; For example: bobbles, bracelet’s, socks, t-shirt, jumpers, shoes etc, to encourage us all to stay safe while walking to school.
Thank you
JRSO (Junior Road Safety Officers)
The Parent Council are looking for any board games for the school that people may not use anymore and would be able to donate? They don’t need to be new but they do need to be complete.
Please hand them into the school office.
