P6 Starting our STEM challenge
Today in class we were very lucky to have a STEM coordinator (Mr Hendry) visit our class to help with the initial organisation of our STEM Challenge – to design a motorised vehicle. We got to spend time working alongside Mr Hendry to design parts for our own models which will then be created on our very own 3D printer!
Science in P4
Primary 4 learnt all about the mummification process as part of their interdisciplinary topic of the Egyptians. They learnt about the history of mummification, carried out a scientific investigation and then applied what they had learnt to mummify a tomato.
The Glasgow Science Centre came to the school to do an input and workshop with the boys and girls. P4 learnt about the human body and how their body works. They carried out fun activities and loved learning about what their body can do!
Lots of thought showers were happening in P4 when they were learning all about the weather. They carried out scientific investigations into how the water cycle works and made a model of tornadoes using soapy water and a bottle!
This term P4 have been learning all about the human body. They have learnt about the different systems for the body (e.g. Respiratory, digestive etc.). They studied the human skeleton, muscles and joints. They even made their own functioning human finger to demonstrate hinged joints!
