We have been working super hard to complete our models. We are now at the testing stage. After conducting our tests, we will have to adapt our vehicles to ensure they can run as straight and as far as possible. Here’s a sneak preview so far…

P3 – Emergency One
Primary 3 recently visited Emergency One. This visit helped us to learn about how vehicles are constructed. We hope this will help us with our Primary Engineer Challenge. We had a great day observing the production line, going into fire engines and even holding the hose!
The Pi Pals!
For the past 8 weeks, a small group of pupils from P4, P5, P6 and P7 have been working on a Raspberry Pi competition entry. The group (The Pi Pals) decided to create a device that could sense when the wearer was becoming annoyed and fidgeting. The Pi could pick up this signal and tell a small fan on the wearer’s wrist to turn on and blow a soothing cold breeze onto the wrist to calm down the wearer. We thought this would be a useful device for anyone who had autism, Tourette’s, or issues controlling their anger so that they could calm themselves down.

P6 STEM challenge – Constructing a moving vehicle
In P6 we have been working hard on our STEM challenge. We grabbed the opportunity to work with a local engineer and he helped us to build the chassis of our vehicle. We spent time in our STEM partnerships to design our vehicles and then used ICT to further develop them. Check out our work so far…
