Primary 3 – Emergency One

Today, Primary 3 visited Emergency One.  This visit was to help us to learn more about People At Work and in particular, to help us with our shoebox STEM project.  Today we got to see how fire engines are constructed.  We were able to see the bodies, chassis, insides, tools used and the staff busy at work.  Our favourite parts were getting to go outside and use the water hose, turning on the blue flashing lights, sitting inside the fire engine and hearing the sirens.  Here are just a few pictures of our visit.

Primary 3 – Science Project

Primary 3 recently had a 2 week home/school science project.  Their challenge was to find out about an aspect of Earth and Beyond that most interested them and to prepare a presentation to teach others in the class about it.  We had a wonderful range of models, posters, books, pictures and even a  constellation word search for the class to complete!  A HUGE thank you to all the adults who supported the children to do this.

Primary 3 – Dark Sky Park

On Monday 10th December, Primary 3 had a very special experience as we visited the Dark Sky Park in the Galloway Forest.  This was an opportunity for us to star gaze, look through the largest telescope in Scotland, enjoy the activity room and go in the brand new planetarium.  When we were in the planetarium we got to view constellations, travel through space, experience what it’s like when a star dies and watch a rocket launch.  One of the highlights of our visit was getting to touch a real piece of the moon.  Wow!
