As part of our Living Things topic we explored the outdoor classroom for mini beasts. We found lots of white butterflies. We decided to make feeders for them. We had to make them bright and used fruit as a tasty snack. When we were placing our feeders in and around the area we found a seagull egg!

SLC3 – Digital Learning Week
This week, SLC3 took part in some outdoor digital learning to help to further their learning about invertebrates. The boys and girls worked in pairs to find different QR codes in the playground which would tell them where invertebrates lived. This will help them when they go out to search or invertebrates as they will have some ideas about where to look!
SLC3 – Outdoor Learning
SLC3 have been spending some time helping to create and design our outdoor classroom recently.
They went out to explore resources and decide where they should go in the playground. They also collected different natural resources to create a bug hotel.
Once, the outdoor classroom was a little more developed, the boys and girls were lucky enough to get a big box of resources from the East Ayrshire LOST team. They had loads of fun going outside to test out some of the new resources.
The boys and girls are having a great time exploring the outdoors!
P3 – Pond-dipping at Dumfries House
As part of our minibeast topic, Primary 3 enjoyed a visit to Dumfries House today to pond-dip and search for different minibeasts whose habitat is in the water. Have a look at the photographs below for a snapshot of our day.
SLC 3 – Dumfries House
On Thursday 3rd May, SLC 3 went to Dumfries House as part of our topic on vertebrates and invertebrates. We got to explore the estate and searched for different leaves and trees.
We walked through the estate to the ponds and we were taught how to carry out pond dipping safely. We were able to find lots of different creatures including pond skaters and water snails. It was very interesting.
