Primary 3 have been learning to read rhythm notation this term, identifying different note and rest values. They have also been learning about the difference between rhythm and pulse. They have been using the drumsticks to play different rhythm patterns from Aram Sam Sam, the Angry Birds Theme Tune, Star Wars and In the Hall of the Mountain King. By the last week of term, pupils were identifying rhythm patterns aurally! Great work P3!
Our Monday was off to a great start with Miss Martin our String Instrument Teacher. Today we were learning the names of our different strings and used the mnemonics ‘Green Dinosaurs Are Enormous’ and ‘Auntie Daisy Goes Crazy’ to help us ensure our strings were plucked in the right order! As you can see from our photos posture is really important and we used Beanie Babies to help ours!
In SLC 3 we have been working with Ross Macfarlane to explore the story of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory through drama. Ross has been helping us to think about the characters in the story and has been giving us great, active ways to practise new types of punctuation that we can use in our writing.
In our sessions, we have thought about what the characters in the book are like. Here we are pretending to be someone from the story. Can you guess who?
We have also been bringing some scenes from the book to life. Here we are imagining that we are opening the door to the Chocolate Room!
Here is Justin being very pleased to be in a room full of chocolate!!
We have really been enjoying working with Mr Ross and exploring the story!
This term in SLC 1 we have been working with Ross McFarlane a drama specialist to encourage our imagination and word choice by exploring stories we enjoy. Here we are having lots of fun investigating Room on the Broom.
Primary 2 had lots of fun exploring steel drums with our visitors and had fun dancing to a variety of music. They finished off going around the hall dancing the conga.
