On Friday 6th October 2017, P5, 6 and 7 pupils from SLC 3 went to the Sportsability event at Ayrshire College in Kilmarnock. We got to take part in lots of different sports such as athletics, rugby, football, sitting volleyball, netball and dancing. We had such a great day trying out different sports and send a big thank you to all involved in organising the day. We can’t wait until next year!

DFS – Wear it Blue and The Blue Ribbon Appeal
Our Wear it Blue Day was a super success and all of our pupils enjoyed wearing either their Barshare blue sweatshirts or other types of blue clothing…some even had blue hair!
Throughout that day and for all of that week members of the Barshare Barrier Busters were selling their very own blue ribbons and managed to raise a whopping £50. Can we please take this opportunity to say thank you for all of your help and support and we will be donating the money to Dyslexia Scotland.
Everyone at Barshare would like to say a special thank you to Mary’s Fabric Shop in Cumnock for helping us and supplying the ribbon and pins at a discounted cost – we couldn’t have done it without you!
P3 – Visit To Tesco
As part of our farming topic, we have been finding out about the journey of food from source to consumer. To help us, we visited Tesco today as part of their Farm to Fork programme. We got to visit the bakery and taste the bread, identify the countries that fruit and veg came from and taste a fruit salad. Our favourite part though, was when we went into the freezer!! It was soooo cold!! We had a great time and learned lots about the journey of food. Here are some pictures of our morning.

P6 – Greame Obree visits the school!
Graeme Obree, nicknamed The Flying Scotsman, is a Scottish racing cyclist who twice broke the world hour record, in July 1993 and April 1994, and was the individual pursuit world champion in 1993 and 1995. He was known for his unusual riding positions and for the Old Faithful bicycle he built which included parts from a washing machine. He came to visit our school and spoke to us about the wonderful things he achieved in his life. He encouraged us to ‘give it a go’ and not give up!
