Primary 3 have been working on a STEM shoebox challenge – to construct a moving model vehicle. The overall aim of the challenge is for the model to move as far as it can and as straight as it can down a ramp. We had to design, create, construct and make adaptions to our models. This project has helped us to develop a wide range of skills and introduced us to the concept of engineering. Here are some pictures to show us in action!

Primary 3 have had a very busy week as it was our enterprise challenge to organise a Halloween Party for the infant department. We had to plan the games and scripts, organise music, write a letter to order apples, make posters and decorations then lead the infant department during the party. It was a lot of hard work, but it was well worth it. The infants had a fantastic time, and we learned lots about team work, organising events and the importance of taking on roles and responsibilities. Primary 3 enjoyed a fantastic class visit from Mr Sloan, a local farmer. He came to us to help us to learn more about life on the farm. Mr Sloan is a dairy farmer. He brought models of his equipment for us to see, bags of animal feed and pictures of his cows. We enjoyed listening to all his funny stories about his work on the farm! Mr Sloan answered all our questions about farming so now we know even more about why farming in Scotland is so important.
Well done to Beau, Devyn, Isla K and Danielle in P3 and Lara, Aaron, Tyler and Kasey in P6 who competed in the Primary Engineer STEM celebration event held at Greenmill Primary on 26th April. All teams worked well and were a credit to Barshare. Congratulations to Isla K and Danielle, Kasey and Tyler who were judged winners in their categories and have progressed onto the next round to be held in Glasgow. Here are some photos of our day…
