SLC 3 Term 4 Overview

Literacy and English

Pupils will be continuing to work towards their ILP targets. These will be assessed shortly and new targets for the coming school year will be set. Pupils will revise and consolidate on their learning from this year.

Pupils have been interested in reading the novel ‘Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone’ and will be carrying out some activities around this book.

Learning in literacy this term will be linked to our topic of ‘Vertebrates and Invertebrates’. Pupils will be learning how to describe animals and people and will use these skills to create a factfile about different organisms. Pupils will continue to explore the use of different types of punctuation in their writing.

Pupils will work towards our ‘Moving On Presentation’. They will start to write their own parts of the script and will write about their aims and goals for the next school year.

Numeracy and Maths

Throughout this term, pupils will continue to develop and consolidate the skills that they have been learning this year whilst working towards their ILP targets. Pupils will continue learning about time and money in Outer Maths and will demonstrate their knowledge and skills in real life contexts. Pupils will continue to explore information handling and will relate this to their learning in the class topic ‘Vertebrates and Invertebrates’. Pupils will also begin to explore symmetry.

Health and Wellbeing

Pupils will continue to work towards the targets in health and wellbeing which are in their ILPs. Pupils will have lessons on sexual health this term.

The pupils will begin to prepare for their transitions next term to either the academy or their next primary stage.

Expressive Arts

Our expressive arts this term will be linked to our class topic – ‘Vertebrates and Invertebrates’. Pupils will also practice writing and reading script pieces for our moving on presentation at the end of term.

Technology

Pupils will learn how to create PowerPoint presentations and will consolidate their ability to take photos and videos on different cameras. They will combine their knowledge in these areas to create an end of term moving on presentation.

 

 

Science

Pupils will be learning about ‘vertebrates and Invertebrates’ this term. Pupils will categorize, classify and group these organisms and will be able to identify them depending on various different criteria. We will have a session at Dumfries House in May to consolidate this learning.
